Copper Raven, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cheam Enterprises Incorporated, to Reclaim 88 Acres as Part of Community Masterplan

Reclamation project will bring sustainable development and employment to Cheam Band members

For immediate release July 23, 2021 (Pelólhxw Territory, Rosedale, BC, CANADA) – Copper Raven Capital (“CRC”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cheam Enterprises Inc. (“CEI”), has assumed responsibility of the Cheam Industrial Lands after a year of negotiations, environmental assessments, and feasibility studies. This is the first step in a multi-year Development Project, including the reclamation of the existing gravel cells as part of a transition into more sustainable land development opportunities for Cheam First Nation and CEI. This project aligns with the Community’s input into the Nation’s Land Use Plan and satisfies aspects of the master plan intended to address market demands in the coming decade and local impact, including employment opportunities for the Cheam Community. The existing Cheam gravel cells are located underneath the BC Hydro Transmission Line Right of Way and will be required to be filled and brought back to the existing grade as part of the reclamation strategy. This project will be completed in accordance with Cheam laws and Land Code and the highest environmental standards, while also aligning with CEI’s mission to create economic development opportunities that uphold traditional Cheam values. Revenues from the reclamation project will support the immediate financial needs of Cheam First Nation and will provide a solid foundation for continued economic success into the future. “The reclamation of these lands is an important first step for our development strategy, and we have the opportunity to have full control to ensure it is done properly from the ground up,” explains Justin Louis, CEI Chief Executive Officer. “This project gives us the ability to live up to Community mandates which include full control over planning and development on this key parcel of land right from the beginning while providing direct benefits to the Community, including skills training and job opportunities for members, all while building toward a sustainable future.” CEI is committed to ensuring that Cheam members are informed of the opportunities this project brings and apprised of the various stages of development. CEI and CRC are working to build a sustainable economic foundation for Cheam First Nation and its Community members. This project joins the portfolio of Cheam Community-owned and driven businesses, including the Cheam Fishing Village and the Cheam Cannabis Co. -30- FOR MORE INFORMATION OR MEDIA INQUIRIES, PLEASE CONTACT Melissa Godbout, Cheam Enterprises Inc. 604-991-8929 | [email protected]   Download the Cheam Industrial Lands Reclamation – News Release   Project Information Package and FAQ For more information on this project, visit www.cheamenterprises.ca/industrial-lands-reclamation
