Xwchíyò:m (Cheam First Nation) is seeking a passionate and experienced Housing Clerk to provide administrative support to the Housing Manager and Lands Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in the administration and implementation of CMHC Social Housing Program.
- Participates in developing housing strategies, policies, and processes.
- Assists with the preparation and initiation of ISC and/or CMHC funding programs as required.
- Coordinates inspections, repairs, and submits/files the deliverables.
- Prepares invoices for approval and payment.
- Maintains accurate records of tenant information, rent payments, and correspondence.
- Ensures compliance with relevant housing regulations and organizational policies.
- Registers and compiles monthly rent invoices to tenants and forwards to the Administration File Clerk for mail out.
- Assists and/or prepares correspondence for the CFN Housing Group.
- Participates in training programs to upgrade skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
- Assists in and performs other related duties as required.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with CFN policies, standards and procedures as directed by the CFN Housing Manager.
- Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the CFN Housing Department.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business administration, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous administrative or clerical experience, particularly in housing management, property management, or a related area.
- Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and experience with data entry and record-keeping.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with tenants, staff, and external agencies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in providing courteous and effective service to clients or the public.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to Indigenous cultures and communities, is particularly important when working with First Nations organizations.
- Familiarity with housing policies, tenancy agreements, and relevant legislation.
- Awareness of social housing programs and services.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional travel for site assessments, community meetings, and outreach activities.
- Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to accommodate community events and engagement sessions.

This position reports to the Housing Manager
