Summer Student Job Postings

Education Activities Coordinator

Number of Positions: 1
Reports to: Education Manager
Start Date: Tuesday, July 4, 2017
Term: July 4 - August 25, 2017
Wage: $10.85 per hour
Work Hours: Monday to Friday; 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Under the supervision of the Education Manager, the participant will gain an understanding by organizing and fundraising for summer activities that will be provided to the Community's children.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize activities and events throughout the summer, and assist as chaperone
  • Fundraise for the planned activities
  • Budget, shop and other related activities
  • Record a daily log of activities and submit a final report
  • Maintain confidentiality of all records, materials and communications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be Aboriginal
  • Must be registered for 2017-18 school year as a Secondary or Post-Secondary Student
  • Must have a Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Computer knowledge
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable, prompt, willing to learn, and self-motivated
  • Able to work independently and as a team
  • Preference: Driver's license and Food Safe

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be Aboriginal
  • Must be a registered, full-time student in 2016-17 school year and intend to return full-time studies for 2017-18 as a Secondary or Post-Secondary Student
  • Must have knowledge of Sto:lo culture and traditions
  • Must have a Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Must maintain confidentiality

Public Works Intern

Reports to: Housing & Public Works Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Small repairs and maintenance
  • Landscaping to Elder's and rental units, and public areas in the community
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Assist with annual community clean-up and other community maintenance initiatives
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Keep a daily log of activities and submit a monthly report
  • Small machine operation
  • Pump house maintenance
  • General maintenance for all administration buildings
  • General maintenance of common areas of reserve
  • Other project duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be Aboriginal
