Department Function and Activities

Currently the main activities in economic development/land resources are intended to encourage the administrative and legislative structures to make the community highly marketable to investment or partnerships. The direction is to produce externally funded projects that support land designation, land code and development readiness over the long term picture.

The interim strategies are to capitalize on resource and tourism driven opportunities, contract work with public and private corporate entities working in and around the territory such as:

  • Interim initiatives and business startups that replace revenue benefit that sustained the trends of needs of the membership of the community both on and off the reserve.

  • A financial strategy that affords opportunity to reinvest and build upon short term objectives to mid- range economic opportunity.

  • Employment opportunities that does more than employ the community members but builds self- esteem and confidence, as well as meet the career aspirations of the members.
